AdDummy is
the page planning tool to quickly and easily
create page layouts for
a publication. It allows the publication
planners to "dummy" the publication.
Templates are created or specific
configurations, including number of pages,
columns per page, gutter widths, page requests,
etc. The templates defines pyramid and flood ad
positions for each page and percentage of
advertising allowable on the page. It also
manages coupon placement and reserved
areas. Display ads can be imported from Adnet or
another ad entry application. Ads may also be
created in AdDummy. The ads are then distributed
to the pages. The finished pages are then
exported to Quark for final pagination. This is
where editorial copy and other page elements are
added. The completed ads, usually a PDF file,
can be automatically imported when Quark reads
the page from AdDummy. When completed the page
is ready for CTP.
Pages from AdDummy can also be sent to a laser
printer as a full page or as a "thumbnail"
version.
This is where the ad is booked into the system.
Here we can see the ad is entered as a Full Page
ad scheduled to run in the July issue. We can
also see customer account and contact
information. |

This is the edition screen of the AdDummy
program. On the left pane
of the window we see the list of ads for
the July publication. We can see the size,
account name, page request and a comment
field. In the right pane of the window we can
see pages of the edition represented by
rectangles. To place an ad on the page the user
simply clicks on the text of the ad in the left
pane, then drags the ad to the desired page on
the right pane of the window. The ads can also
be moved from page to page in the right page by
clicking and dragging. |
