Distribution Services
September 10, 2007
Hi, all!
On the Move!
Conley’s corporate personnel will be
moving to the Beichl Street plant this
week. We are all excited about the move!
The Conley Printing mailing address will
still be
P.O. Box 478, Beaver Dam,
WI 53916.
Packages sent (by Fed Ex,
UPS, DHL etc.) to Conley Printing should
be addressed to
555 Beichl Avenue, Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
The move is scheduled to take place
between
Wednesday, September 12 and Friday
September 14, 2007. The phone and fax
lines will not be operational during
this time. We can still be
reached by e-mail and cell phone. We
appreciate your patience during this
time of transition!
International Mail
One type of mailing that
might seem like a black hole is
international mail. We really don’t know
what happens to it once it leaves this
country. I don’t know what your
individual experience is with delivery
times, but I would like to know. Here
are some facts about international mail.
The USPS eliminated some
of their international products with the
last postal increase. USPS eliminated
Publishers Periodical International mail
as of May 15, 2007. International
surface mail was eliminated as well.
Rising fuel charges, a weakened US
currency and increasing foreign postage
rates all contributed to the demise of
these services.
The USPS international
services ISAL (International Surface Air
Lift) and IPA (International Priority
Airmail) offer discounts to mailers
which sort their mail according to USPS
specifications. Specialized
international mailers, generally, are
the only ones able to take advantage of
these. Priority Air and International
Parcel Post remain as the product most
accessible to the average person.
International transit
times can vary greatly, as each country
handles it mail differently. Canadian
publication mail can take 7-17 days and
International publication mail 10-21
days to deliver (this is very general,
weather, other natural disasters,
political circumstances etc can all
affect transit times greatly).
PCC Day is September 19,
2007
National Postal Customer
Council Day is approaching fast! PCC
events are great for training and
learning more about postal matters. The
PCC provides an excellent way for
mailers to network with each other.
Local PCC’s will offer a wide range of
activities.
There will be a satellite
feed originating from Cincinnati with
the US Postmaster General, Jack Potter,
as the featured speaker. Some PCC’s will
offer vendor booths with companies that
sell mailing services and products. Most
will offer classes in a wide range of
postal topics. I have attached a list of
PCC’s sponsoring events. Please contact
your local PCC to get more information
about planned activities.
Thank you,
Bill
